Commercial Writing and Playing
In addition to writing and playing in his own ensembles, Reuben also plays arranges commercial music. Reuben began playing trumpet with Boy George in 2013 as part of Yoko Ono’s Meltdown at The Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, and since has appeared with him on Later…with Jools Holland, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Taratata and C A Vous. He has been part of three world tours in promotion of Boy George’s album This is What I Do (which he is featured as a soloist on ‘Turn On A Little Light For Me’) and with Culture Club to promote their upcoming album, which he also recorded on. Reuben has also arranged for this horn section, featuring himself on trumpet, James Gardiner Bateman on saxophones and Dave Liddell on trombone.
In 2014, Reuben joined Paloma Faith’s horn section with James Gardiner Bateman and Nichol Thomson, and has played at North Sea and Montreux Jazz Festivals, as well as Calling Festival (supporting Stevie Wonder.) Reuben will be performing with Paloma and the Guy Barker Orchestra as part of the 2014 BBC Proms and going on a UK tour with her later this year.
